Featured Success Stories

“I have worked for the NHS for many years, and contacted Job Interviewology following a series of failed NHS interviews. I used to be good at interviews, and didn’t understand what I was doing wrong now. My coach was friendly, approachable and a good listener, and he seems genuinely invested in helping people to reach their work goals. He explained in a very kind and supportive way where he thought I was going wrong and what I could do about it. The online course was also accessible, helpful and informative. I prepared for my next interview following the advice, and I got the job!”

Maggie – Programme Manager (UK)

“After over 10 interviews over recent years … I was no longer telling anyone I was going for an interview as I was now embarrassed to go back and say I didn’t get the job…again. I gave up for a while – but the feeling that I could do the job would not go away – eventually I decided to give it another go, but this time I would pay for a coach. my coach was amazing! He met with me to go through potential interview questions and a mock interview even though it was during a holiday and he had a cold at one point. With each session I got better and better. I had to put in a lot of hours of preparation. I am pleased to say I have now been offered a Band 8A from Band 6 role in the NHS. I thank God for this answer to prayer but also my coach for his hard work and dedication. The moral of the story is never give up and hire Job Interviewology”

FAQs

NHS interviews can be challenging due to their structured scoring system. Preparation is key—knowing likely questions and practising responses helps ease the pressure.
Keep your answers under 4 minutes. • Reference the NHS “6Cs” Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage, and Commitment. • Include relevant buzzwords like empathy or empower to align clearly with the scoring criteria.
• For Band 2–4 roles: ~20 minutes. • From Band 5 onwards: around 60 minutes. • Senior (Band 8d/9, ESM/VSM): may extend over multiple days, including presentations and panels.
Each answer scored 0–4: • 0 = Fails to meet • 1 = Partially meets • 2 = Meets requirement (borderline) • 3 = Fully meets • 4 = Exceptional • A typical interview with 10 questions is scored out of 40. Usually, a minimum threshold (e.g. 20/40) is required, and the highest scorer gets offered the job.
Offers: typically within 24 hours of the final interview. Unsuccessful candidates: notified via email over the following days. Feedback can often be arranged through a call with the interviewer.
• External candidates: onboarding and documentation may take up to 2 months. • Internal candidates: usually start after completing their notice period.
